Is RCC Accredited?

Yes. RCC’s Massage Therapy Program - including all delivery formats, such as the Daytime, Evening, and Advanced Standing options - has been granted Full Accreditation by the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation (CMTCA). Each stream was reviewed independently and awarded accreditation following a comprehensive on-site evaluation. This designation confirms that our curriculum, clinical education, policies, governance, and student supports meet nationally recognized standards for massage therapy education in Canada, offering students reassurance that their training has undergone a rigorous external review and aligns with the expectations of the profession.

Is participation in the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) process required for Advanced Standing students?

Yes, participation in the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) process is mandatory for all Advanced Standing applicants at RCC. This process allows us to evaluate your previous academic and professional experiences, ensuring you receive appropriate credit for your prior learning and can efficiently progress through the program.

When do students begin treating real patients in the RCC Student Clinic?

Students may enter the RCC Student Clinic only after the successful completion of Term 1, which includes passing all required theory and practical coursework. This ensures they have the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills needed to treat the public safely and professionally. Students then progress to our Specialty Clinic in Term 3, where they work with more complex cases and continue developing advanced clinical reasoning under supervision.

Why is RCC’s Massage Therapy program delivered in person, and what is the rationale for this approach?

Our written rationale is based on adult learning principles and supports the development of hands-on clinical skills required for safe practice. In-person delivery allows students to learn through supervised practice, real-time feedback, and experiential application - methods that best align with how adults learn and how massage therapists develop competency. For this reason, our curriculum and assessments are delivered on campus, where skills can be demonstrated, observed, and evaluated in a real clinical environment.

What student-to-faculty ratios does RCC follow, and how are these applied in different learning environments?

RCC has minimum student/faculty ratios in place and adheres to them across all educational environments. We maintain a 12:1 ratio for academic and simulated classroom learning and a 7:1 ratio in the clinical setting. These ratios guide our scheduling, supervision, and staffing practices to ensure students receive appropriate support, oversight, and evaluation throughout their training.
