At RCC, we’re proud to partner with the Southern Ontario College of Osteopathy (SOCO) to host their Diploma in Osteopathic Manipulative Practice (DOMP) program right here at our North York campus.

For Registered Massage Therapists and other healthcare professionals, the SOCO program offers a natural progression in manual medicine — providing advanced skills, deeper understanding of the human body, and additional tools to enhance clinical outcomes and expand career opportunities.

While the program is delivered and administered independently by Southern Ontario College of Osteopathy, RCC is pleased to offer local access to SOCO’s curriculum within our academic setting at 1446 Don Mills Road, North York.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

The program is open to:

Prospective students from outside RCC are welcome to apply. Depending on your clinical background, some additional courses may be recommended to ensure sufficient foundational knowledge in anatomy, palpation, and manual therapy prior to beginning certain modules. We are happy to discuss your individual situation in more detail.

Why Many RMTs Are Pursuing Osteopathy

Career Longevity: The physically demanding nature of massage therapy can take a toll over time. Osteopathic techniques allow you to continue providing hands-on care while broadening your therapeutic approach.

New Clinical Tools: Gain advanced manual therapy techniques such as Muscle Energy Technique, Counterstrain, Cranial Osteopathy, Visceral Osteopathy, and more.

Expanded Scope of Practice: Upon graduation, many DOMP graduates are eligible to bill extended health insurance plans under osteopathic services, depending on individual insurer policies.

Flexible Scheduling: SOCO’s format is designed for working professionals, with weekend-based modular courses that allow you to continue your career while studying.

What is the DOMP Credential?

DOMP stands for Diploma in Osteopathic Manipulative Practice.

In Canada, DOMP programs are designed for qualified health care practitioners who want to incorporate osteopathic manual techniques into their clinical practice. Graduates may integrate these advanced assessment and treatment methods alongside their existing scope of practice.

While DOMP is not a provincially regulated profession in Ontario (osteopathic physicians remain distinct and regulated differently), many extended health benefit plans provide coverage for osteopathic manual therapy provided by DOMP-trained practitioners, depending on individual insurer guidelines.
