Admission Requirements

Regular Program Eligibility

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

1. Educational Background:

⚬ Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, such as:

• A Secondary School Diploma from another Province or Territory.
• A General Education Development (GED) issued within Canada.
• A transcript, diploma, or certificate from another country, assessed at OSSD level by a recognized assessment service.
• A Canadian post-secondary degree.
• A non-Canadian post-secondary diploma or degree assessed as equivalent to a Canadian post-secondary diploma or degree by a recognized assessment service.

2. Age and Testing:

⚬ Must be 18 years of age or older.
⚬ If past transcripts are not provided, passing a qualifying test is required.

3. References:

⚬ Two signed character reference letters:

• Letters must be original and include contact information.
• References should specifically address the candidate's suitability for the Massage Therapy Diploma Program.

4. Health Statement:

⚬ A statement of good health from your family physician, confirming that you are fit, healthy, and free of communicable diseases.

5. Personal Essay:

⚬ A personal essay (500 words) describing your motivations for becoming a massage therapist.

6. A Vulnerable Sector:

⚬ A Vulnerable Sector Screening (which includes a Criminal Record Check) — must be dated no more than six (6) months before you submit it, and must be submitted within the first six (6) months of starting the program.

7. Massage Experience:

⚬ Proof of having received a massage by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).

8. Language Proficiency:

⚬ Fulfillment of the Language Assessment Proficiency Policy.

Advanced Standing

Applicants require all of the above plus:

⚬ A post-secondary transcript from a recognized academic institution's health care degree program. Advanced Standing transcripts must be approved by the RCCMT Director of Education

⚬ Participation in the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) process, which recognizes your previous knowledge and skills, allowing you to earn credits and streamline your educational journey. This is a requirement for all Advanced Standing applicants.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate from RCC, students need to complete all academic, clinical, attendance, language, and financial obligations. This includes passing all RCC courses with a minimum grade of 70%, completing 330 approved clinical hours, and adhering to attendance policies. Students must also demonstrate English proficiency (if applicable).

Tax Deduction

A student enrolled at RCCMT may claim a tuition tax credit for any tuition. An official income tax receipt will be issued to all students by end February.
