RCC Receives Full CMTCA Accreditation — A Milestone Worth Marking

Published November 25, 2025

We’re pleased to share that the Royal Canadian College of Massage Therapy (RCC) has officially been granted Full Accreditation by the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation (CMTCA).

This decision follows our on-site review earlier this fall and reflects the collective work of our faculty, staff, students, alumni, clinical partners, and advisory committee members who supported us throughout the process.

What Is CMTCA Accreditation?

CMTCA accreditation is a national, independent evaluation of massage therapy education programs in Canada. It reviews key areas such as:

  • curriculum and learning outcomes
  • clinical education and patient safety
  • faculty qualifications
  • governance and administration
  • student supports and academic integrity
  • policies, documentation, and continuous improvement

Accreditation ensures that schools meet rigorous, evidence-based educational standards designed to protect the public and advance the profession.

What Does Full Accreditation Mean for RCC?

Receiving Full Accreditation with a 3-year term is the highest outcome available to schools undergoing their first accreditation cycle—and we’re proud to have earned it.

It confirms that:

  • our program meets nationally recognized standards
  • our curriculum prepares graduates for safe, effective practice
  • our clinical education model supports competency development
  • our policies and systems are well-established and functioning
  • we are committed to ongoing quality assurance and improvement

It also places RCC among other accredited massage therapy schools across Canada—an important milestone for a college founded on growth, transparency, and educational excellence.

Why a 3-Year Term?

For schools undergoing accreditation for the first time, the maximum award possible is three years. After that period, colleges undergo a standard renewal process, which allows the CMTCA to ensure that progress, innovation, and accountability continue.

What This Means for Students and Graduates

Whether currently enrolled or already practicing, accreditation reinforces that an RCC education:

  • aligns with provincial and national expectations
  • reflects the current needs of patients and the profession
  • has undergone thorough, independent evaluation
  • is supported by strong academic and clinical infrastructure

We hope it brings confidence, pride, and reassurance to everyone connected to the college.

A Thank-You Worth Repeating

Accreditation is not achieved by one person or one department - it’s the result of hundreds of contributions over many months. To everyone who reviewed documents, taught, supervised, attended Advisory meetings, offered feedback, participated in outreach, built policies, or simply believed in what RCC is becoming - thank you.

We’ll never forget the group that went through accreditation together.

Looking Ahead

Accreditation doesn’t mark the finish line - it marks a standard to uphold. We remain committed to reflection, improvement, collaboration, and the continued evolution of massage therapy education in Ontario and across Canada.

RMT Diploma Program

Term 1 and Term 2 emphasis is placed on learning basic knowledge of the Human Body. In Term 3 and Term 4 the focus will be on the application, knowledge, and the refinement of clinical skills.
