RCC at the Toronto Marathon: Learning in Action

At RCC, we’ll never miss an opportunity to fly our flag.

So when we were asked if our students would be interested in providing post-race treatment at the Toronto Marathon - supporting both 42K and 21K runners as part of the rehab team - we were genuinely flattered. With over 20,000 runners from more than 70 countries expected, we knew this would be a meaningful opportunity to put learning into action.

And it delivered.

From the moment the first runners crossed the finish line, it was busy — non-stop, high energy, and demanding. But our team rose to the occasion. No shortcuts. Intake paperwork was completed properly, treatments were delivered with care, and coordination with the broader rehab team was seamless. It was exactly the kind of real-world environment that defines what we aim to do at RCC.

We’ve always believed our students are particularly well-suited for this type of setting - and this event reinforced that. Their maturity, work ethic, and collaborative, good-natured approach stood out. It was especially meaningful to hear directly from event organizers how impressed they were with the professionalism and presence of our team.

A highlight of the day was seeing a few of our own students toe the line and take part in the race themselves - and then come through the finish area and experience the same post-race care environment they had helped deliver. That full-circle moment didn’t go unnoticed.

While not everyone at RCC is an avid runner, there is a shared mindset here - one that leans into health, activity, and leading by example. Events like this resonate deeply with who we are as a community.

This was more than just an outreach. It was RCC in action.

And we couldn’t be more proud of our team.
