RCC Students Brave the Heat at Heatwave for SickKids

Published July 14, 2025

Heatwave truly lived up to its name this past weekend, as temperatures soared at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto. But that didn’t stop our dedicated students from the Royal Canadian College of Massage Therapy from stepping up to support a great cause.

Our students were on-site providing massage therapy to athletes participating in the Heatwave Beach Volleyball event, all in support of SickKids. The event, now a long-standing tradition in the city, brings together teams from across the community for a fun-filled day of volleyball, all while raising vital funds for SickKids Hospital.

Since 2009, RCC has been a proud part of this event through our outreach program, offering massage therapy treatments to help keep athletes feeling their best before and after their matches. This tradition holds special significance for our college, as it was near and dear to our founder, Ben Grosberg.

Participating in the Heatwave event is one of our favourite outreach activities each year. It’s an opportunity for our students to gain valuable hands-on experience, connect with the community, and contribute to a meaningful cause. The atmosphere at Ashbridges Bay is always filled with energy and enthusiasm, and our students look forward to it year after year.

We’re incredibly proud of our students for braving the heat, demonstrating their commitment, professionalism, and passion for helping others. We’re also grateful for our continued relationship with Heatwave and SickKids and look forward to many more years of collaboration and community spirit.
